Quakertown Breakfast
hosted by Kris and Brenda Hoot
What a scorching hot summer morning on July 6th. Only 9 Retreads attended breakfast today. I guess people were on vacation due to the extended 4th of July holiday weekend. Just 5 bikes in the parking lot. It was nice to meet a fairly new Retread Chris Soden. There was no after breakfast ride because Brenda and I had a prior engagement in the afternoon and the weather was just too hot !. There will be rides after breakfast in August and September if we have good weather. Don’t know where yet but we will figure something out. Having said that, if anyone wants to lead an af-ter breakfast ride that would be awesome. Feel free to let me know. Kris Hoot
Lancaster Breakfast
Hosted by Harold and Linda Robinson
It was great to see everyone this morning. Linda couldn’t make it due to me leading an after break-fast ride. She didn’t want to ride on the back of the Goldwing. We had 6 bikes in the parking lot sweating, and it was a bit chilly inside the Corral this morning with 18 retreads. They had the A/C cranked! The free breakfasts were won by (we are still looking into this one), George and Jeanne Lorah, and the 50/50 was won by Chris Kreitzer. We didn’t stay and talk much after the announce-ments due to a bus coming in at 10am. I told our waitress she would just have to tell them to wait. She said I was more than welcome to tell them. She wasn’t. After breakfast 4 bikes and 6 Retreads headed for Twirly Top in Gardners for some Ice Cream and Lunch. It was a long ride and a hot day, but some nice roads. Afterwards most left from there to go home or other commitments. Dwight and Kim Brenner followed me most of the way home, then they broke off for a more scenic route along the River and Long Level Boat Club. Hope everyone made it home or to your destination on time and safe! Thank you for coming to breakfast and I hope to see you next month. Harold
Myerstown Breakfast
Hosted by Rick and Darlene Horst
We only had 12 retreads come out to Country Fare for breakfast but it was a great group. With rid-ing season well under way, there was plenty of talk of motorcycles, rallies, vacations and upcoming events. Almost everyone rode today. We had 9 motorcycles in the parking lot. Today’s 50/50 was won by Chris Kreitzer. Conversations continued after our announcements, in the room and in the parking lot. The after breakfast ride had a late start getting out but three bikes, four people went on a 70 mile ride, led by Chris Kreitzer. The ride ended at Frostbitez in Jonestown for everyone’s favor-ite–ice cream! We appreciate everyone who came out today and hope to see you next month. Rick & Darlene
Windmill- third Thursday of the month
Hosted by Arlene Kellet
We had a good turnout. We had 11 retreads and 2 guests. There were 3 bikes. My daughter and her husband had a great time also. It was wonderful to see Art. We stayed and had a good visit talking about good times with the group.
Let’s Ride by Lee B
This month I have two exciting events to attend. First is the 56th Annual Goschenhoppen Folk Fest, August 9th and 10th. The Goschenhoppen Folk Festival has showcased daily life of the Pennsylvania Germans in the 18th and 19th centuries. Volunteers, dressed in period clothing, use authentic tools to recreate traditional home skills, trades, pastimes, foods, and folk music. https://goschenhoppen.org/goschenhoppen-historians-pennsylvania-german-folk-culture-special-events-programs/folk-festival/
Second is the Pennsylvania Cigar Box Guitar Festival in York.
The festival is at the York Emporium, 343 West Market Street, York, PA August 24 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. 14 bands on two stages. I have not made it to this event yet but it is on my bucket list, maybe this is the year. https://www.facebook.com/p/Pennsylvania-Cigar-Box-Guitar-Festival-100057444189991/
Western Pa Rally Review
The Western PA Rally was held in Franklin, PA. There were 55 retreads in attendance, from 10 re tread groups. 12 of the attendees were from Eastern PA Retreads.
At registration you were able to purchase 50/50 tickets and drop tickets to put in to win prizes. There was a historic walking tour on Sun-day evening and 3 guided rides each day were available to sign up for. Monday evening there was a dinner and game night. Everyone was given a cloth pin. Each time you heard someone say “no/know” you could steal their cloth pin(s). The person with the most cloth pins at the end of the night received a prize. Who knew it would be SO hard not to say “no/know” while visiting that evening. Tuesday evening the entertainment was Rudy Elvis. All cthe women ended up with a scarf around their neck by the end of the night. We could make our own ice cream sundae at intermission. Wednesday there were some rain showers but the rides still went out. I think everyone go a little wet, some more than others. Wednes-day evening ended the rally with the banquet with awards and door prizes.
Rallies are a great time to meet new people and see those we don’t see often. It was a great time of food, fellowship and fun! A big thank you to the Western PA Retreads.

In our thoughts
Ruth Horst (Woofie) On July 4th she fell on her left hip. The CAT scan showed that no bone fragments were broken off and everything was in good alignment, so they did not have to do surgery. Even without surgery, the recovery time is about the same and its going to be a long road for healing. She was transferred to a rehab facility in Kissimmee, and the people are all very friendly and caring.
Connie Horst (Hoss) He is doing fine since his surgery for Melanoma on his head. His last post-op appointment for the skin graft was July 10th and it is healing well so he does not have to go back until October.

Safety Tip for the month
Now that we are fully into riding season, please be weather aware. There are storms and other weather events that may pop up unexpectedly while riding. Please keep your eye to the skies and a weather app on your phone. In the case of a weather event seek proper safe shelter until it passes. Please be safe while you are riding.
A message from the Reps
We would like to thank everyone for all they do for the club. So many of you volunteer your time not just for the rally, but for the many weekly, monthly and yearly events that occur. In addition to leading rides, writing articles for the newsletter and participating in club events. We need every-one, for our club to thrive. If you have not come out to an event this year, check out all that is going on and find something that suits you. Please don’t hesitate to add your own rides, or ideas to the mix. Thank you again for making our club so wonderful.
